Fox News reports, James Redford, the son of Robert Redford has died at the age of 58.

His wife, Kyle Redford confirmed the news via Twitter.

She wrote, “Jamie died today. We’re heartbroken. He lived a beautiful, impactful life & was loved by many. He will be deeply missed.”

“As his wife of 32 [years], I’m most grateful for the two spectacular children we raised together. I don’t know what we would’ve done [without] them over the past,” she said

Kyle said James passed away from bile-duct cancer in his liver.

Redford reportedly struggled with liver disease in the past, however, cancer that was found in his bile duct was detected last November. He was waiting for a transplant.

A spokesperson for Robert Redford said in an interview with People magazine that he’s “mourning with his family during this difficult time and asks for privacy.”

“The grief is immeasurable with the loss of a child. Jamie was a loving son, husband, and father. His legacy lives on through his children, art, filmmaking and devoted passion to conservation and the environment.”

Alongside her statement was a collage of images featuring James — a producer, writer and director — herself and their family. Some of the images appeared to be rather recent while others were throwback pics.

He also wrote the script for “Hearts and Bones,” starring Kiefer Sutherland and Daryl Hannah, and adapted Tony Hillerman’s “Skinwalkers” for North Fork Pictures.
